Good-bye Alaska
Well, my "Alaskan Adventure" is coming to an end. Tim and I are moving to Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania where he is going to be the Associate Minister at Hillside Christian Church. I have started a new blog for the two of us at www.timandamybaker.blogspot.com if you want to keep reading about our lives!

Being Married is Fun!
Tim and I have been happily married for 8 days now!! The wedding went perfectly, the honeymoon was a lot of fun, and we are back in Anchorage and loving being married. :-) It is gradually sinking in that we are husband and wife, and that I am now Mrs. Amy Baker! Now the work begins to change my name everywhere! I found a good website to help me remember everywhere to go and who to tell. I've posted pictures of the honeymoon on Facebook, and others have pictures of the wedding on their pages, and as soon as I receive my pictures, I will post them as well. I'm really excited to see them and to see the video.
I was actually more nervous about the rehearsal than the actual ceremony. I couldn't eat much at the rehearsal dinner and that night I prayed really hard for God to help me be calm the next day, and He sure did! I was just happy, and feeling mellow but also excited. Even at the church and getting ready I was a little anxious, but mostly just happy and ready to get it done! During the ceremony I couldn't stop smiling, and I couldn't be happier. :-)
The resort in Playa del Carmen was really nice. It was all-inclusive, and probably mid to upper 80's all week, which after living in Alaska for 9 months, felt really hot! I didn't think it would be that bad, being raised in Texas and used to 90 and 100 degree summers, but it really was a shock.
The food was really good, including a Brazilian restaurant we ate at one night. The beach was beautiful, there were animals everywhere (including wild raccoons that came out at night which was actually a little freaky), and the room was nice and big with our own jacuzzi on the balcony. We took one excursion out to see some Mayan ruins, climbed 120 steps up the highest temple left in the country. We also visited a Mayan village and met some families and got to see how they live. It was a really good trip!
Well, I'm not sure how many more posts on this blog I'll have. I'm just going to be so busy, I just wanted to warn those of you who read this that this may be the last one for a while. If you are just so curious about what's going on in my life, I will try to keep people updated through Facebook, since more and more people are on that.

Wedding Countdown Has Begun!
So sorry for the lack of posts! I just haven't had too much to say and honestly have lacked the motivation to sit down and type.
22 days until the wedding!!! I am very excited! I leave in two weeks to go home, and it can't come soon enough! Everything is pretty much set and done, but of course once I'm home more work begins, getting everything ready for the big day. (mostly decorations for the ceremony and reception). My goal is to not get stressed out and not obsess about things being perfect. I've done that pretty much throughout this whole process and I'm at the point now where I realize it's not that important for every little detail to be in place, and I just want to do it and be done! Planning a wedding is not as fun as it seems (if it seems like fun...I thought it did). I'm looking forward to the ceremony and then being on the plane to Mexico for a 5 day vacation!
Work has been pretty crazy. I am working with an autistic student who they are trying to transition. He has been placed in a 5th grade class, and I, along with another coworker, are working with him all day, and it has been quite a feat, as he will hit, kick, scratch, and spit if he is redirected or does not like what we are having him do. I have several marks on my hands where he has drawn blood, a welp on my leg where he kicked me over and over in the same spot, and today he went after me for asking him to stop playing his computer game to start his next work assignment and he scratched me on my chest and left two lovely LONG red marks. The goal is to get his behavior under control to where another school will take him. That is the goal for every student in my school. I have been working with him for 5 weeks now, and we have seen improvements, but I'm not so sure how much progress we're really making. When a student makes it to the point of transitioning to their home school, a staff member who they are used to goes with them at first to help them get settled in, and I think it would be fun to do that with him. I think if he was in a communications class for students like him, he would do really well. We can't offer him what he needs, but we're doing the best we can with the resources we have.
Tim and I have started going to the gym every morning (except Friday because it's his day off and he wants to sleep in). We started this week going at 5:45 to play racquet ball, and I get ready for work in the locker room (which has been quite an experience! I'm not too keen on seeing women with no clothes on, or being seen, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone else), and he goes home and then goes to work. Next week we're going to go early twice a week and in the evening the other two days because I really don't like getting up that early because I don't always get to sleep when I should so it was making me tired; not to mention the uncomfortableness of the locker room. Although, yesterday I found a different one that is not nearly as crowded.
Tim and I have been asked to speak at a Valentine's Day luncheon at church tomorrow. We are going to share our story of how we met, and our courtship (if you can call it that) and how God has worked through our relationship. We're babysitting the associate pastor's daughter tonight and hopefully working on what we're going to say since we haven't yet.
Well, I apologize again for the lack of updates, and I apologize in advance for the lack of updates in the future. :-)
Have a good night!

Happy New Year!
Well, I never promised to write every day when I started this blog. The holidays were pretty busy for me with trying to figure out what wedding stuff needed to be done, and then traveling, seeing my family and actually doing the wedding stuff. Most everything got done, or at least decided so we know what to do. I feel a lot better about it now. :-)
We moved Tim into our NEW HOUSE yesterday. We will be renting the bottom half of a duplex, and Tim and Evil Cat Max moved in yesterday. I was looking forward to Max living over at the house for a long time because I was getting really tired of him biting me and thought that he would be happier at the house because we'll both be over there more often than at my place so he'll get more attention and therefore will bite less. But last night, my first night without him, I was actually not wanting to go home because I would be totally alone. But it's fine now. :-)
When I got home a couple of days ago and tried to start my car, it wouldn't start. Tim jump started it with his car, but I would drive it somewhere, let it sit, and then it wouldn't start again. We had to jump start it three times that day. I took it to the shop today and had to get a new battery. I also had a lugnut that had been needing to be replaced, so I got that done too, and the total ended up being $4 more than what I received for Christmas. So, thank you to God for providing exactly what I needed. :-)
Tim and I went yesterday to talk to the cable company to see if we could get internet from them without getting TV and all that because the house has satellite. However, in order to get high speed internet, you have to buy a bundle, and there was a package that included a cell phone, and since it would be cheaper than adding me to Tim's plan, which is what we were planning on doing when we were married, we did it, and I got a new slider phone. I like it a lot. I'm still trying to figure out how to do everything, and it doesn't use a SIM card, so I can't just transfer all my contacts...I have to enter them individually, which is what I'm going to continue doing after I finish this blog.
Speaking of blogs, my brother has an AWESOME blog: www.jtslider.blogspot.com. He is a student at a radio broadcasting school in Dallas, and he has started recording, and podcasting a show called "The Drawing Board", as well as writing different things on his blog that relate to his episodes. It's all about "taking the world back for God" and I highly recommend reading it and especially listening to his episodes. He is so smart and God has really blessed him with the intelligence and talent to be able to share this important message! Check it out!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and happy new year!
